Paperwork issue may derail Vitesse debut for Christian Atsu
Christian Atsu might not play for Vitesse this weekend.

Ghana winger Christian Atsu may have to wait a little longer to make his debut for Vitesse due to paperwork issues.

Atsu was snapped up by Chelsea from FC Porto before the summer transfer window closed and the Blues instantly sent him on a season-long loan to Vitesse, with whom they enjoy a strong partnership.

The Eredivisie side had been looking forward to deploying the speedy winger against ADO Den Haag on Saturday.

But despite the Ghana international being granted a work permit, he has yet to receive his temporary residence paperwork.

And should that not come through in time, Atsu will not be able to pull on a Vitesse shirt.

The 21-year-old put in some dazzling displays for Porto last season but after asking for a hefty pay rise term, fell out of favour at the Estadio do Dragao.

Jose Mourinho swooped to take him to Chelsea and the Europa League holders will monitor his progress in Holland.
