Ghana U17 coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has lauded the Football Association for giving Kwesi Appiah the nod to continue as head coach of the Black Stars despite failing at the 2014 World Cup.

Fabin argues that sacking Appiah would have stifled the team’s growth after showing a lot of promise in Brazil.

Appiah is expected to sign a new two-year contract extension which is reported to be worth US$ 876,000 by the state-owned Graphic Sports newspaper.

“Kwesi Appiah had to deal with a lot off the field issues and I feel to give him another chance to prove himself is the best given the situation,” he told GHANASoccernet.com

“AFCON 15 will mean who he has come full circles and no doubt he would be in a better situation to do well than he has.

“We have to move away from the hiring and firing of coaches and I feel it was in the best interest of the nation that he was retained.”
