Quincy will sit out for two weeks

Ghana winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie will sit out for 15 days after picking a knee injury in Panathinaikos’ Europa League win over Maribor on Thursday.

The lightening-paced wing-wizard limped off in the 35th minute after crashing with a Maribor midfielder at the Olympiako Stadio Spyros Louis as the Shamrocks run away with a slim 1-0 win.

Panathinaikos doctors looked at the extent of the injury on Friday morning and have asked the former Arsenal youngster to spend 15 days on the treatment board.

The Greek giants brightened their chances of progressing into the knock out phase of the Europa League with a 1-0 win over the Slovenians.

  3. kwame pito says:

like i said… the same people calling on A.A to gatecrush Quincy to Afcon will be those same people to call A.A fr3fr3kobo coach if God forbid, he fails.
If i was Akwasi Appiah I will do my thing so that if I fail then No regrets. word to the wise.

  4. A concerned citizen says:

Quincy, I wish you a speedy recovery and i hope Coach Akwasi Appiah will invite you into the Black Stars very soon. Coach Appiah, i would like to encourage you to invite Quincy in to the B/S so as to vary your tactics and your game plan. Since time immemorial Ghanain game plans includes wingers so as to spread the game. For instance Ghana previously enjoyed the services of Baba Yara, Rev, Osei Kofi, John Bannerman just to mention a few. These wingers actually spread the game and do the pull outs to break the opponets walls so that the strikers will get the goals. Quincy has that pedigree and i think it is imperative for coach Akwasi Appiah to put the country first to invite him into the Black Stars.

    • Kay says:

YES,Quincy is a quality versatile player. Akwasi Appiah need to include him to make Black Stars more stronger, a special player that opens any tight defense. This will put into all our opponents. Appiah please do the right thing, let Quincy and Jordan take care of the right-wing. He also a very good play-maker.

  5. selfmade says:

If the fa was fair, the first person to be called into the national team should be no other person than quincy!!! Is so disgraceful to this fa that such a quality player like quincy should be ignored!! What a fuck is wrong with these fucking pot belly idiots at the so called gfa! These sons of bitches are nothing but bribe takers and that’s a strong football nation like Ghana ll parade almost half fit players to major tournament!! Am now highly convinced that this fa is very corrupt and it shown in all endeavors of the national team including player selection!!

  6. Sergeant says:

Any time I remember the goal he scored against Ivory coast in CAN 2008,it saddens my heart that such a quality could be left out from our squad.

  7. keith from germany says:

FRANKLY SPEAKING i wasnt a fan of quincy in the past years but looking at how he has matured now he definately belongs in the first eleven.
i dont see any blackstars forward better than this dude.
he has matured so strongly that eventhough he plays his concert stayle of football he is now more serious with the gmae with his team-mates n that makes him a big weapon of mass destruction for the blackstars.
akwesi appiah gotta call him becuz he can easily break tight-defences with his speed n det touches.

  8. Paul says:

If akwasi appiah needs quincy, he wd hv called him so lets all patiently wait for the arrival of the final afcon squad. Akwasi appiah is looking for a solid team that can conquer africa for all ghanaians so lets support him nd his dream team. GO BLACK STARS!
