Otto Addo suffered defeat on his first match day as head coach of German Bundesliga side Hamburg SV as they lost 2-0 to Werder Bremen in the 99th Northern Derby on Saturday afternoon.

Addo, a former Ghana international, was appointed joint head coach of the German giants last week after their disgraceful defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

The interim coaches Rodolfo Cardoso and Otto Addo altered the team after they suffered a debacle in Dortmund but they were unable to win as Bremen won the tie 2-0.
