Ex-Ghana star Otto Addo missed out on the permanent job at Hamburger after the Bundesliga side appointed Bert van Marwijk as head coach.
Addo was named co-caretaker coach after the dismissal of Thorsten Fink last week.
He prepared the Dinosaurs for last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Werder Bremen.
The appointment of the Dutchman means, Addo will revert to his role as head coach of Hamburg’s 19 side.
Marwijk, 61, who has been out of work since stepping down from the Oranje helm after UEFA EURO 2012 ill be officially unveiled on Wednesday.
“We are pleased to have secured Bert van Marwijk as the new manager of Hamburger SV,” said sporting director Oliver Kreuzer.
“He already has vast amounts of experience and has demonstrated his ability on a number of different occasions.”
He s experience of the German top flight, having coached Borussia Dortmund from 2004 to 2006.
His other club postings include spells with Feyenoord and Fortuna Sittard.
