Samuel Osei-Kuffour is pinning his hopes on Kwadwo Asamoah and Christian Atsu to carry the Ghana team at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The ex Ghana defender has been speaking on the Black Stars chances who are without influential Michaek Essien, John Mensah and Andre Ayew for the tournament being hosted by South Africa.

Ayew was the latest to drop out of the side following his inability to join the Ghana training camp in the UAE on scheduled time.

He picked up a hamstring injury while training with his club Olympique Marseille last week.

Osei-Kuffuor however believes the Black Stars still have enough quality to excel in South Africa with the likes of Kwadwo Asamoah and Christian Atsu coming into their element.

“We have the likes of Kwadwo Asamoah who can also do the job,” he told Radio XYZ.

“And we have Christian Atsu, that is his first tournament and I hope he would step in the shoes of Dede Ayew to do what Dede was supposed to do on the field of play.”

Ghana will open its Nations Cup account against DR Congo on January 20 before facing Mali and Niger in the subsequent Group B games.
