Bafana Bafana midfielder Dean Furman believes the success of their qualifying campaign will stand them in good stead as the aim to go all the way in Equatorial Guinea.Â
South Africa arrived in Libreville, Gabon in midweek as they continue their preparations with a friendly against Cameroon before heading to Equatorial Guinea for the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
Bafana Bafana kick-off their campaign against Algeria on 19 January in Mongomo.
South Africa topped their group in what was a very successful qualifying campaign. Shakes Mashaba's men were unbeaten in six games, winning in Congo and Sudan while also claiming a credible 2-2 draw in Nigeria.
Furman insists the different conditions the team experienced last year will help them succeed in the Equatorial Guinea, but has expressed that the team intends on improving every day despite their recent success.
“It was important to go and experience the different conditions in our qualifiers. We have to use that experience to our advantage in the tournament because, if truth be told, we passed them with flying colours by coming back with victories away from home – and that is something we can take confidence from and help us going forward in this tournament,†Furman said.
“We must take belief from our qualification campaign. No one expected the run of games that we had and we have a lot of confidence going through now, we can't get sloppy and think we made it because we are not where we want to be as yet.
“We started well, we are doing well, and we must continue on that path and aim to improve every day.â€
