Ollenu and Salifu recalled into Ghana Under-20 team

Posted On Tuesday, 31st July 2012

Ollenu Ashitey has been recalled into the Black Satellites

By Patrick Akoto

Black Satellites duo Ollenu Ashitey and Fatawu Salifu have bee re-called into the team ahead of the return fixture of the 2013 African Youth qualifier against Uganda.

The exciting Hearts midfielder, Ollenu and Inter Allies Salifu were sacked from camp ahead of the first leg on disciplinary grounds.

But head coach Maxwell Konadu has decided to temper justice with mercy by handing them a lifeline back into the team by given assurances that they will be of good behaviour.

The Black Sattelites are in danger of missing out on the 2013 African Youth Championship in Algeria and must grind out a positive result in the return fixture in Ghana with a potential meeting with North African powerhouse Morocco in the offing.

  1. Ansong says:

A good national coach never sacks players because they play for Heart.wise up*

    • Nii says:

MASSA, stop politicizing the issue. ollenu left camp without permission and salifu was lazy to wake up and join the team to train. What do u expect a good coach to do in this situation to serve as deterrent to other players. You can pamper him at Hearts but for national team, trust we Ghanians will not accept that attitude.

  2. ChoCho says:

@Ansong.. You are a fool by saying that, What makes you think that he was sacked simply cuz he is an Hearts player? You Rather Wise Up..Kwasia…

  3. adonten says:

@ cho cho, it is true, we know konadu to be anti-wise. time will tell

    • adonten says:

sorry, we know him to be anti- hearts

      • Nii says:

If Ahmed Toure who was then the reigning player of the year in Ghana last season was punished for indiscipline, what is the profile of ollenu in Ghana football to be spared for indiscipline. Tell him to stop smoking and concentrate on football. Ask yourself that, why only two players out of the rest were sacked from camp on disciplinary grounds.

  4. yopoo says:

Let’s hop he will use them.I don’t see this coach qualifying us.if I may where is Sellas Tetteh?

  5. TT says:

We have dozens of under 20s playing in Italy and Spain, even Atsu and Warris are at 20. How old is Jebrin? Oh Ghana.
Look at the Olympics for example, especially Brazil. They came with all their best young men.

  6. Chocho says:

    @Nii..i agree wid u

  7. jon says:

your mode of punishing dis players was an out moded practice

  8. Alale Emmanuel A (BTW) says:

Nii, I hope u smoke with him. Stop first to serve as an example to him.

  9. KWADWO ADDAI says:

left to me alone like MAXWELL shd never called these guys up even if we fail to qualify. But i expect him to sit them down and talk to them.
