Defender Ofosu Appiah delighted with Jomo Cosmos nomination

By Ameenu Shardow

Ghanaian defender Ofosu Appiah is elated at being nominated for the Best Player Award at Jomo Cosmos.

The 22-year-old in just his first season at the South African club is gunning for the top award alongside eight others.

Appiah despite the no mean achievement was quick to recognise contributions made by former club; Asante Kotoko in moulding him into a solid defender worthy of such an accolade.

“My first year has been tough but I’ve done my best and I’m happy independent observers rate me high among my peers,” he said.

“I have been a regular here. Playing  for a big club like Kotoko has helped me a lot.

“The coaches encourage me a lot and they have very good facilities.”

The award is voted for by the fans in a poll being conducted on the club’s website.

Whoever is promoting this guy with such publications should better sit up. This is a defender of a team that is rock bottom of the Absa League in South Africa and leaking goals waawaawaa and you think we ought to take off our hats to him. Think again and advice him to come up with a different number for his age. What age was he when he played for the local Black Stars two years ago?
