Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has confirmed he has finalized his move to Italian giants AC Milan.

After undergoing medical tests over the weekend, the Ghanaian arrived at Milanello this morning to sign a reported 18-month contract.

He posted on his official Twitter page: “Just signed my contract to join one of the best clubs in the world.Im very happy and looking forward to winning with the team#ForzaMilan.”

Essien’s deal with the Rossoneri is reportedly worth to be €1.25m for the current campaign and €2.5m next season.

He will also earn a €500,000 bonus for Champions League qualification.

The 31-year-old will be presented to the Italian media on Tuesday afternoon.

His former side Chelsea have now made official the news of his departure in posting a lengthy farewell message on their official website.

Whilst Milan have posted a welcome message through their official Twitter account with the above image included.

Essien was down the pecking order at Chelsea and made five English Premier League appearances at Stamford Bridge.

He is in search of regular playing time to boost his fitness ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals Brazil in June.

  2. kuukuphilly says:

show mourinho u r better than what he thinks..

    • tbdarko says:

Mourinho doesn’t think Essien is not good.I’m sure he will be happy to see Essien playing well. It just happend that he’s building for the future. Dnt 4get that it was the same Mourinho who took him in at Madrid and gave him playing time to get back on his feet. He gave Essien an option to stay or go and Essien left because world cup is around the coner. For a person that has helped Essien’s career I dnt think its fair to say “Show Mourinho u are better than what he thinks” ………

      • DOGO says:

Whiles I agree with you on the above, I also think he betrayed him in this last days. At least he could have featured him for some few minutes here and there to keep his confidence up. But Mourihno failed to do that for his only “Son” To me that’s a betrayal. It’s not as if the guy was terrible on the pitch. I could understand if Essien was a terrible player. But we all agree that was not the case. Anyway I will still support Chelsea Essien o no Essien. AC Millan has my support too. Good Luck to our boys. Muntari and Essien.
