NPP Supporters Behaved Like Adolf Hitler's Fanatics

Posted On Tuesday, 24th April 2012

A Deputy Minister of Information has slammed the NPP for backing the incendiary and ethnic-laced statement made by the MP for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong, describing their reaction to his incarceration as similar to events surrounding the arrest of Austrian-born German fascist leader Adolf Hitler for alleged subversive acts.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said he is disappointed in the NPP for treating the beleaguered lawmaker as a ?hero? regarding his ?genocidal? comments which he (Ablakwa) deems ?inexcusable, reprehensible and despicable.?

?The statements that Kennedy Agyapong made are so inexcusable, reprehensible, despicable and disgusting that the only thing the NPP could have done was to support the state and distance themselves?,? he said.

The NPP firebrand was granted a GHC 400,000 bail by two different High Courts on Thursday, after spending three nights in BNI cells. He is alleged to have declared war and incited Ashantis against Ewes and Gas and has been charged with treason, felony and acts of terrorism.

During his arrest and appearance in court, scores of NPP activists besieged the Police Headquarters, the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) offices and the court precincts in solidarity.

Contributing to discussions on Metro TV?s ?Good Morning Ghana? show, Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa related the incident to that of Austrian-born German fascist leader Adolf Hitler, whose supporters vehemently protested his arrest for alleged subversive acts.

?Exactly 123 years today (Friday), 20th April 1889, Adolf Hitler was born and he had a lot of supporters. In 1923, he was arrested for a lot subversive activities but his supporters destabilized the state?so he was released for the sake of peace. 20 years down the line, Adolf Hitler led the German Reich which killed over 11 million citizens of the world, including 6 million Jews. So I am not surprised that the Kennedy Agyapong is described to be a hero by the NPP, history has repeated itself,? he said.
