Norway-based striker Mahatma Otoo is confident he will return to action for Ghana in future after being left out the Black Stars provisional squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Hearts of Oak striker was axed by Black Stars coach Avram Grant even though he scored 13 goals for Songdal in the Norwegian top-flight this season.

England-based striker Kwesi Appiah was preferred ahead of Otoo despite being one of Ghana's players playing in the top-flight leagues in Europe.

But the former Hearts of Oak striker believes he will have the opportunity to play for the senior national team in future.

“As a footballer you have to be ready for your national team, I think I did well for my club but the decision of inviting players into the National team depends on so many factors," Otoo said.

“The coach did not call me and am not worried I will keep on playing my football and I know one day I will be given the opportunity again.

“I have played for the Black Stars before so is something I want to do again because I always want to help my national team.”

Ghana have been placed in a tough group at the Africa Cup of Nations where they will play Senegal, Algeria and South Africa.
