No compromise on directive ? NPA

Posted On Wednesday, 2nd May 2012

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) says its directive to filling station owners to have places of convenience or be closed down is not subject to negotiation.

The NPA will therefore implement the directive to the letter.

Public Relations Officer of the Authority, Yaro Kasambata told Joy News Television in an interview the directive is in line with the NPA?s regulations aimed at ensuring that the public have access to places of convenience at the various fuel stations.

Last week, the NPA gave fuel station owners a three month ultimatum to construct washrooms for public use or face severe sanctions.

The NPA also wants good housekeeping to be carried out on regular basis at every filling station.

He stressed the non-compliance of the directive can result in the imposition of penalties, suspension or total closure of a filling station.
