Ahead of the Nigeria-Ghana international friendly match  today, members of the home-based Super Eagles have been showing signs of an exciting encounter at training.

The home based Super Eagles face the Black Meteors of Ghana to mark the opening of the Akwa Ibom Stadium complex, Uyo.

At Thursday’s evening training that lasted almost three hours, the players were grilled on quick counter attack, fast breaks, robust defending and the need to avoid unnecessary infringements on opponents.

Assistant coach, Dan Amokachi, was the one dishing out the instructions, with the assistance of coach Hyandonou Valere and Ike Shorunmu.

The training which was held at the practice pitch of the Akwa Ibom Stadium complex was to later throw up some of the stars that will be seen during today’s game.

Apart from established professionals like Chigozie Agbim, Azubuike Egwueke, Christian Osagunna Ighodalo and Gbolahan Salami, there was an excitement in the play of Enyimba of Aba midfielder, Kingsley Isokari and Nigeria league hot shot Mfom Udoh.

At the sessions and those before them, the duo simply stood out and barring last minutes juggling, are expected to start the game or come into the match at some point.

The coaching crew kept sealed lips about their start list but acknowledged that some new discoveries have been made that will be catapulted even to the main team.

“But I will have to discuss that with the head coach,” Amokachi said on Thursday.
