Ghana striker Jordan Ayew hopes to blossom from his partnership with Vincent Aboubakar at FC Lorient.

Ayew played alongside the Cameroon international for the first time on Saturday and scored in the 1-1 draw with Stade Reims in a pre-season friendly.

He is expected to partner last season's Ligue 1 second top scorer with 16 goals as Lorient bid to break into the top half of the table at the end of the season.

“My partnership with Vincent is already showing promise,” he said

“We did well in our first game together and I am looking forward to improving our understanding.

“There is every reason to believe in the partnership.”

Ayew, 22, scored five goals in 17 Ligue 1 matches for relegated Sochaux in the second half of last season.
