New Edubiase Chief Executive Alex Ackummey has hailed the set date for the resumption of the Ghana Premier League – saying it will give players enough rest to recover their verve.

The Premier League Board have set June 7 for the resumption of the First Capital Plus League.

The resumption date had tentatively been set for May 17 but has now been put back.

While clubs like Asante Kotoko appear not to be in favour of the new date, New Edubiase chief Alex Ackummey says the decision is a good one.

“I think the new date is very good because the players clearly need some rest,” he said.

“The rest however shouldn’t be too much for the players to go cold and that is why the new date is very appropriate.

“It will allow players to rest while fringe ones continue to compete in the Elite and FA Cup.

“The players will return with a lot of energy for the second half of the season.”
