Ghana legend Abedi Ayew claims his Nania FC side are not keen on playing in Caf’s Inter clubs competition despite advancing to the final of the MTN FA Cup.

The three-time African Footballer of the Year coach saw  the second-tier side  edge newly crowned Ghana Premier League Champions Berekum Chelsea 5-3 on penalties at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Both teams were tied at 2-2 after extra-time.

Winning the final of the competition will secure them a place in the qualifiers of the 2011 Caf Confederations Cup.

But Abedi Pele is not fixated on participating in continental football.

“Playing in Africa is not my target. What I want to ensure is that there are quality players in this team who want to show people what they can do,” the soccer legend told Accra-based Peace FM.

Nania FC will face the winner of the Asante Kotoko-Medeama SC/Sporting Mirren semi-final clash.

If u r nt interested in going to Africa, then don’t waste our spot. Withdraw from playing the finals and let those who r interested play for the position.

What other way can u showcase the ‘quality’ players u have than letting them play at the bigger stage – Africa?

  2. Babs says:

Mr, obi , what is wrong wit u,de wofiye asem.

    • Obi Ba says:

Babs, I guess you don’t understand the issue at stake. it’snot about ‘di wo fie asem’. It’s about Ghana football. We had 2 slots each for both CAF championship and confideration cups. We have been dropped to 1 each now. We need better teams to represent us so we can perform better and win back our slots.

Let everyone who thinks he thinks about Ghana football join this debate about winning the slot and not going.

  3. Deathrow says:

This man is just abducting talented players wasting their time, but he rather secure deal for his children that are not even extra-ordinary by force footballers. Pls stop doing the fucking Team if you don`t want to give the boys chance. GREEDY MAN.

  4. ohene says:
