Nana Konadu Rawlings' Logo Threat Won't Intimidate Us - NDC

Posted On Saturday, 12th May 2012

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is not in any way intimidated by the letter written to the party by the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, warning it against what she calls abuse of her intellectual property in reference to the party?s logo that she designed.

The former First Lady noted in her letter that the denigration of the logo has been manifested in disrespect for the founder, the disunity of the party and lack of accountability by key party leaders to its members.

She has therefore threatened to withdraw her permission for the use of the logo by the party if steps are not taken to end the continuous infringement of her exclusive property.

But, the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, in an interview with XYZ News said the party is not aware of any such infringement of any intellectual property adding that the party will soon meet and respond to the letter appropriately.

?We have received that letter and we will respond to it appropriately after we?ve held a meeting over it? Asiedu Nketiah said adding ?I am urging all party members that this is nothing to worry about?.

?The letter itself claims that property rights were registered in 2010 and I am wondering whether it was after 2010 that we were given the permission to use the logo or what?.

Meanwhile, reacting to concerns that the threat by the former First lady could form part of plans by the former first couple to form a new political party, lawyer to Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Stanley R.K. Ahorlu told XYZ News that he could not guess what the political motives of the letter are.

?I am not a politician and I won?t speak to their politics. I am a lawyer and I have been instructed by my client to write a letter to the NDC in respect to her intellectual right and that is exactly what I did?.
