Nana Aidoo: Ebusua Dwarfs bankroller hits back at Fianoo over legal threat on league expansion proposal

Ebusua Dwarfs president Nana Aidoo has hits back at Kudjoe Fianoo over threats to take legal action against the Ghana FA over proposal to increase the number of Premier League clubs to 18.

Mr. Fianoo criticized the Ghana League Clubs Association and questioned the motive for the proposal claiming someone’s negligence will not be exchanged for the expansion of teams.

The claims by the former GHALCA administrative secretary has been met with criticism after a relegated Ashantigold benefited from a similar scenario over two decades ago.

The widely respected Ebusua Dwarfs financier Nana Aidoo has expressed shock at Fianoo’s claims and says he’s misrepresented history.

“I was surprised to hear Kudje Fianoo speak on the matter the way he did. If someone should speak on this matter it certainly should not be him,” he told Peace FM

“Perhaps he’s forgotten history so soon. Ashantigold benefited from such a proposal years ago and so he should get his fact right.

“May be he was not involved with the club at that time and so he is not aware of what exactly happened.

“Perhaps Ashantigold could be playing in the first division by now but for the expansion of the teams to 16 at that time. I may also be forced to take the FA to court for expanding the league to accommodate them (Ashantigold).

He added: We’re all concerned about the latest standoff. It’s better for us to find an amicable solution than muddling the waters. I think I will test the law as well.”

The start of the Ghana Premier League has delayed after King Faisal dragged the FA to court over their demotion to the country’s second-tier.

The Kumasi-based club feel aggrieved and want the High court to determine their case which has unduly delayed the start of the season.

The expansion of the Premier League teams to 18 to accommodate King Faisal and Ebusua Dwarfs is widely regarded as the possible solution to solve the impasse.

That decision however, will have to be approved and rectified by Congress- the Highest decision body of the Ghana Football Association.
