Namibia coach Ricardo Mannetti has challenged to his players to show that they deserve to play at international level when they face Ghana’s CHAN team in a friendly on Saturday.

The Brave Warriors have failed to qualify for a major tournament playing at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations which was coincidentally hosted by Ghana.

Their guests have been camping in Windhoek since last Saturday for the 2014 finals which will be hosted by South Africa.

''All these players need to convince the technical team that they can play and we can rely on them whenever the situation arises,'' Mannetti told the Namibia Football Association website.

''We play Ghana on Saturday and it being a friendly game, it is an ideal platform for me to assess other players as we look ahead to the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers as all as the Cosafa Cup next year.

"[Players] must show me what they can do for the team as well."

The coach added that he aims to start the year on a winning note and will line up his players to bring the Black Stars down on Saturday.

"It will be a new year and a victory will surely be a good omen for our year ahead. So victory will be the ultimate plan as well and the players are at the moment responding well to my ideas. The new guys are willing to learn and fit in and that is good,” he said.
