Posted On Sunday, 6th May 2012

The National Disaster Management Organization is yet to move in to provide support for about 1,200 people in Gushiegu in the Northern Region displaced after torrential rains.

Properties including school blocks and private buildings worth thousands of Ghana cedis have also been destroyed.

Most people affected were women and children.

The District Chief Executive Officer, Alhaji Fuseini Alhassan told Joy News his outfit has given food stuff to some of the affected residents ahead of the visit by the NADMO office.

He said they have been able to put back some roofing sheets on school buildings which were ripped off and to restore some of the households.

He was unsure when NADMO officials will come to the area but was optimistic with the presence of the Regional NADMO coordinator in Gushiegu the plight of the residents will be ameliorated.
