My career won't be complete without World Cup - Laryea Kingson

Ex-Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingson says his career will not be complete without playing at the World Cup.

Kingson is close to joining American Major League soccer side Phoenix FC in January next year after leaving Hearts of Oak under acrimonious circumstances.

The 33-year-old was once a key member of the Ghana squad who formed a deadly midfield partnership with Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari.

But the ex-Heart of Midlothian enforcer missed the chance to represent the West African country in 2006 due to a late, late ban.

And Kingson says he want to feature at the global piece for even five minutes to make his career complete.

“It is the dream of every player to be in the national team and everyone knows I have given a lot to the national team but have never played at the World Cup,” Kingson said.

“So if I get the opportunity again, why not. Even just five minutes at the World Cup will do.

“Even being with the squad for the World Cup, if even it is for just five minutes, I will be a complete man.

“I was a key player in the national team. I helped the team throughout two World Cup qualifiers.

“But I have never gotten the opportunity to play there and that is why I am so determined to make it there.”

Failure to play at the World Cup remains the only blot on Kingson’s rather fine career which has seen him also play for Russian giants Lokomotiv Moscow.
