Muntari shines for AC Milan in nine-goal riveting victory over Acquah's Parma
Muntari and Acquah sit on the pitch for a chat after the tough but exciting encounter

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari was instrumental as AC Milan edged a nine-goal thriller with Parma in a match that saw two sendings off, an outrageous own goal and a sublime back-heel finish.

Muntari played against his Black Stars compatriot Afriyie Acquah who also played the entire duration of the game for Parma as AC Milan won the match 5-4.

But the other Ghanaian Michael Essien sat on the bench throughout the game with Acquah grabbing a yellow card for his efforts in the match.

Earlier in the day, their city rivals, Inter, beat Sassuolo 7-0, but Milan went above them to joint top of Serie A as they maintained their winning start. New signing Jeremy Menez was on target twice, once from the penalty spot, in a game which saw both sides reduced to 10 men, with Daniele Bonera and Felipe both sent off. Milan were never behind, but Parma refused to give up as they left the visitors hanging on to the victory by the end. Giacomo Bonaventura gave the visitors the lead with a low strike before former Milan striker Antonio Cassano levelled two minutes later with a header. Keisuke Honda's header restored Milan's lead before Menez's penalty extended their advantage before the break. Felipe's close-range finish gave Parma hope soon after and Milan's Daniele Bonera saw red to boost their hopes further. Nigel de Jong's cool finish restored the visitor's two-goal cushion but Alessandro Lucarelli's header again brought Parma back into the game. Parma's Felipe then saw red to even up the numbers as Menez's audacious back heel looked to have made the game safe for Milan. But Mattia De Sciglio's bizarre own goal from outside the penalty area, after goalkeeper Diego Lopez missed the ball and injured himself in the process, made for a frantic finale.
