Muntari sees full-time action in Milan draw

Posted On Sunday, 10th February 2013

Black Stars midfielder Sulley Muntari played full throttle for AC Milan - his first time since returning from a long-term injury in December

By Akyereko Frimpong Manson

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari saw full time action for the first time this season after playing entire duration for AC Milan in their 1-1 draw with ten-man Cagliari on Sunday in the Serie A.

The 28-year-old has had an inconsistent second-half of the season since recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in December.

However after netting in the Rossoneris’ 9-2 heavy win over lower-tier side, Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri handed him a starting spot in a diamond midfield featuring Mathieu Flamini and Massimo Ambrosini.

The former Inter Milan hard-tackler gave a good account of himself in midfield and could play a key role in Milan’s UEFA  Champions League tie against Spanish giants Barcelona on Tuesday.

Compatriot Kevin-Prince Boateng came off the bench just after the hour mark to replace Stephan El Shaarawy.

Milan needed a late penalty from Mario Balotelli to draw 1-1 at the Stadio Is Arenas.
