Muntari agrees 50% pay cut at Milan after injury- reports

Sulley Muntari celebrates a strike for AC Milan

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has agreed 50% pay cut after sustaining an injury while on holiday in his native, according to reports in Italy.

The 27-year-old underwent surgery in Milan last Tuesday after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

He has been ruled out for action for close to six months.

AC were ready to offer Muntari a two-year contract worth €3 million but his injury has left the club’s Chief Executive Adriano Galliani furious.

Milan have already signed Kelvin Constant to replace the Ghana international at extra cost.

Muntari sustained the injury after trying to tackle FC Porto starlet Christian Atsu in a friendly game.

He had a successful loan spell for the second half of the season by scoring three goals in 13 Serie A appearances.

  4. Assisi says:

This is hard on muntari. AC Milan should have been considerate. I can’t believe a club of Milan’s stature are behaving like that. They know muntari likes Milan and he’s desperate as well so they took full advantage of him for he being injured which occurred in Africa. Unbelievable. Now if I were him, I wouldn’t know how I was going to be motivated to play for Milan. I think Galliani should offer him the full pay when he returns to play in six months time but for now half pay is ok because he is not playing. Muntari has really worked hard in Milan in his six months there. He really deserve full pay when he starts playing again.

  5. Ericato2_USA says:

Well, in any case muntari himself has agreed to this proposal, we all know he is football ‘gbee’, & this would not stop him from playing monday stars when he is back in gh for holidays.
