Mubarak Wakaso has returned to the Villarreal bench after recovering from a nose injury

By Akyereko Frimpong-Manson

Ghana youth winger Wakaso Mubarak returned from a five week injury lay-off to warm the bench for Villarreal in their 3-1 victory over Granada on Sunday.

The 21-year-old underwent surgery after sustaining a bone fracture in the nose in early January.

The versatile winger has made two appearances as a substitute for the ‘Yellow Submarines’ and has been an unused substitute ten times.

But AshGold player is hoping for more playing time under new coach Jose Molina whom he worked with in the Villarreal second team.

Wakaso has spent two seasons at the Camp El Madrigal after joining from Segunda Division side Elche FC.

Villarreal occupy a lowly 14th position on the log and want to improve on their standing.

  1. D LIGHT says:

HE is no more a winger. He is now used as a left defensive midfielder. He is an asset for our spotkicks. Xcellent wit FREEKICKS. Lets invite Him , Torric Gebrine, yartey, Quansah, ABEYIE, JERRY ANKAMINKO and Christian ATSU for the CHILE friendly. I bet every ghanaian wld see the creativity dat has been missing in the team. Not 4geting KWESI APPIAH of crystal palace- brilliant left foot striker. far beta dan the mediorcre GYAN.

    • Fu-Chu says:

D Light, I agree with all the names you have listed. I was telling folks yesterday that Ghana has the talent but was not put right for the Afcon. And personally, the Black Stars need to let Gyan walk. If not he will get to the point where he will become a cancer on the team.

  2. JERRO,GREECE says:

i hope someone is listening to u

  3. james havim says:

  8. U all ar rite.bt pls u did nt mention Jeffrey schlupp also a lft fted skrka.he is a vry gud player watch out 4 dis guy.

  9. abroad says:

We should give our young talented player’s to develop than to rush them to the black stars . b

  10. Maxwell Johnson says:

Massa how can we assess them if we don’t invite them for friendly games? These are promising young talents who are are hungry for success, besides most of them have played for the junior national teams before and have tournament experience. There is no way you can convince me that Masawudu or Lee Arday are better than Wakaso, N.K Asare and David Addy. I agree with you D LIGHT the revolution must start now, trust me GH have the talent to even win the WC with the right management, preparing and self belief.

  11. paa bobo says:

even he is not a striker but he is far,far better than the WASTE Prince Tagoe..

  12. Peedi Crack says:

I agree with ALL of you guys!!!!…Thanks to all of yall for ya comments, and Maxwell Johson, thank you so much, because you mention the same 3 players i’ve als been mentioning for the left back position, ever since plavi claims we have a problem at left back…..kwasiasem like dat, what kinda problem??….we have competent left backs who are versatile enough to play as left wing backs!!! this stupid coach just need to drop half of the players and start looking at all the other options we have at our disposal…Ghana got so much talent and it hurts me till today that every freaking frendly game, plavi is always calling lee addy, tagoe, muntari and adiyiah…y????these players are not active players for their clubs except maybe lee addy, who is now going to be based, in China of all places..smh!!..hahahaha he might as well quit playing soccer and start shipping goods to ghana, for petty trading!!! hahaha. And Maxwell Johnson, going back to your argument again, you are absolutely right, there is no freaking way in dis world, that lee addy and massawudu are better options at left back than david addy, Nana Akwesi Asara and Wakaso, who all have valuable european playing experience and all there are waaaaaay better options at the left back position, and they all have overlaping and goal scoring abilities, that can never be said about massawudu and lee addy.

  13. Peedi Crack says:

Bottomline Ghana needs a new coach because plavi will still call these same ole waste, useless and old horse players, lee addy, tagoe, muntari, paintsil, john mensah. The players mentioned above should all be called up to be assessed and also the we should not forget about frank ‘messi’acheampong, who is playing in Thailand!!….that guy is pure talent, I hope he goes to europe ASAP!!

  14. MUMPLEY says:

Dont forget Samuel Affum and a Badu guy in the MLS

  15. Bentil says:

I think the blackstars team need to be reshufle, starting with the mediocre player to prince tagoe and should be end in serbia!

  16. Bentil says:

Even mahatma otoo would have been far far better than tagoe.is about time we stick with sellas tetteh,he would 100000000 Times better than goran!!

  17. Abu says:

We are looking for the a left back when this guy can play right win left Bach and midfield too a guy who has played champions league and also most of the Spanish league Wat else do u wnt him to play again evn masahudu genoa junior team u call him in black stars eii gfa dnt wait for us to get problem before u start looking for solution and now they will be in the pressure to make it right hell no the earlier the better
