Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso rejoins Espanyol first team after suspension

Posted On Monday, 25th February 2013

Mubarak Wakaso has resumed training with Espanyol first team

Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has been forgiven by Spanish side Espanyol and has been recalled to train with the first team following a one-week  suspension.

The Ghana international was barred from training with Javier Aguirre’s side as a punishment for following his inability to join his team-mates in time after the Africa Cup of Nations.

Wakaso trained with the team on Monday morning and should be available for selection ahead of this weekend’s Spanish La Liga match against Valladolid.

The 22-year-old was also slapped with a 10,000 Euro fine for his decision to over-stay his holidays.

Wakaso will be pushing to regain his place in the Espanyol set-up.

Espanyol lost their home match against Atletico Madrid in his absence.

Foolish coach, have u realized the importance of Wakaso after Athletico Madrid defeat? Why must you freeze him if you know you will eventually fine him….nonsense!

  2. Kwamina says:

What makes anyone think that Mubarak could have saved them from the Athletico Madrid defeat? Have they not lost to even weaker sides with him playing? What if the punishment includes a suspension AND a fine? Mubarak showed indiscipline and he’s being punished for it.Period. Let’s stop this blind hero worship of people who are not YET heroes!I bet Mubarak will not make this mistake again.

  3. Dr Who says:

@Kwamina,the coach is trying to kill an ant with a sledge hammer.must you suspend a player for over a week and fine him 10000 euros on top for reporting late? nobody is praising Wakaso for what he did but the punitive measures were too much for the nature of offence. They could have simply fined him to deter any future occurance.

  4. Joe says:

@Dr Who, ther’s a sytem to everythng than u know.Every great leader was once a great follower.Wakaso mst learn to follow instructns especially in a modern competitive game if he wnts to b successfl cos even Messi does.I love dat coach.

  5. abs says:

right decision by e coach to suspend and fine him. discipline is e most important factor in football.

  6. Randy says:

Wakaso has shown maturity by owning up and putting this case to rest, that’s really commendable.
He will not repeat this mistake, he has great potential to be one of best Black Stars player ever. First AFCON with four goals? I don’t of any Ghanaian.

    • Randy says:

You meant, you don’t know of any Ghanaian scoring four goals at AFCON as a debutante? I don’t think there is anybody. Nobody!!!
Wakaso, Essien, Muntari, KPB, Quincy, Dede, John Mensah, Kwadwo, Warris, Jordan and Atsu. 11 quality players.
Akwasi Appiah need to do what ever it takes to get all these players for the rest of the qualifiers IF he reaaly want to keep his job.
