Mubarak Wakaso was fined 10,000 euros for reporting late to Espanyol after AFCON

Ghana star Mubarak Wakaso was fined 10,000 Euros by his Spanish side Espanyol for reporting late after the Africa Cup of Nations, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.

The midfielder incurred the wrath of the Barcelona-based for failing to join his teammates five days after the African championship ended in South Africa.

Wakaso was expected a couple of days after playing in Ghana’s third-place defeat to Mali at the tournament.

He was told to train by himself until otherwise instructed by head coach Javier Aguirre and has since not joined the first team.

The 22-year-old told reporters upon returning to Spain that he had contracted fever and he had already informed the club’s coaches.

Wakaso hugely impressed on his debut at the Nations Cup where he emerged joint top scorer with four goals.
