Mohammed Polo has vowed never to make a return to Hearts of Oak as a coach following his disastrous spell at the club.

The Ghana legend bore the brunt of the supporters throughout his six-month reign as interim coach following the dismissal of fans’ favourite David Duncan.

Polo managed to guide Hearts to third place despite the team’s woeful run in the Ghanaian top flight.

The former Ghana forward enjoyed cult status during his time with the Phobians as their main playmaker nicknamed the ‘Dribbling Magician’.

His return to the club as coach was in sharp contrast as a player as Hearts went on to lose close to the number of games it won.

Polo has now resolved never to return as coach of Hearts due to his unpleasant experience with the side.

“I toiled with everything that I had in me last season to help the club achieve successes but what happened? My own supporters were wishing for my downfall which hurts me so bad till date,” he said.

“I've decided not to coach Hearts of Oak again even if I’m given the chance in the future.

“I played wholeheartedly for almost 21 years for the club’s success but because [David] Duncan was sacked my own people sabotaged me and wished my downfall.

“I’m their own and they should have put the past behind and support me because in spite of all these, I was able to finish third on the log which means I could've done a lot more than what I did with their support.”

Polo has since been replaced by experienced Herbert Addo who is yet to preside over his first competitive match due to the delayed start of the Ghana Premier League.
