Hearts of Oak coach Mohammed Polo has told his players they must work hard to earn places in his team after the holidays.

Polo, who is yet to settle down at the club since taking charge early last month, says nobody has a guaranteed position.

Hearts players are on a two-week break after ending the year with an ignominious 2-1 defeat to second-tier side Gold Stars in the MTN Ghana FA Cup second round tie.

They will resume training on 06 January for the second half of the season.

"We are going to start from a clean slate; nobody has a guaranteed position and everybody's position is up for competition," Polo warned his players.

Polo has won one match, drawn once and lost two matches in all competitions.

Hearts of Oak are tied on 27 points with second-placed Ashanti Gold but third on the league table on the head-to-head count.
