Mohammed Polo steers Hearts to win over Dwarfs on debut game
Thomas Abbey scored the match winner for Hearts of Oak against Dwarfs

Mohammed Polo won his first game in charge as Hearts of Oak head coach as the Phobians clinched a narrow 1-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast.

Attacking midfielder Thomas Abbey capitalised on a defensive blunder by the host to score the only goal of the game for Hearts.

With the turbulence around the 20-time Ghanaian champions seemingly over, Polo only had to prove a point to the fans on his debut game in charge and a solid Hearts side ensure he ended Sunday evening with all three points to keep Hearts in sight of the title race.

Midfielder Kofi Abanga returned to play in midfield alongside Winful Cobbinah and Romeo Agban and he gave a good account of himself from the middle.

Hearts had to stump their authority in midfield and it took some robust play to ensure Hearts had the upper hand.

Abanga went into the referee's pocket for a bad challenge on Rickey Adjei Mensah in the 22th minute. Hearts continued to press and pressurise their host and they eventually got the winner in the 22nd minute.

Cobbinah linked up well with Abbey with the latter returning a pass to Agban who hit a crossfield pass for Abbey to finish off in style.

Frederick Boateng had a glorious chance to snatch a late equaliser for Dwarfs but he watched as Philemon McCarthy pulled a great stop to deny him.
