AshGold's hopes of landing midfielder Kofi Abanga from giants Hearts of Oak have been dashed after the midfielder signed a fresh three-year-contract for the Phobians.

The former Ghana U20 midfielder is undergoing revival under new boss David Duncan and he has expressed his desire to work under the former Ghana U17 trainer.

He has reportedly signed a new deal which will keep him at the Capital club till August 2016.

AshGold who are hoping to replenish their depleted squad were angling for a move to sign the midfielder but he agreed new terms with the Phobians.

Though the Miners did not officially table a deal, it was reported club CEO Kudjo Fianoo has already expressed interest in recruiting him for Bashir Hayford.
