According to France Football, Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien wants to leave the English Premier League side during the January transfer window for more game time.

The Ghana international wants to be fully fit for next year’s FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.

Essien has been down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge this season and will seeking a loan move with the French Ligue 1 considered his next destination.

The box-to-box midfielder was a hit in France after playing for Bastia and Olympique Lyon before his move to England.

The 31-year-old returned to Chelsea this season from Real Madrid where was on loan last term.

But manager Jose Mourinho has not been impressed with his output.

Essien has made only six appearances for Chelsea so far and it does look like he can make more appearances.

I think it’s about time you leave. If water is left in a closed bottle for decades, it begins to give unpleasant odor. I personally believe you’ve been betrayed by your “Daddy” You were doing well in Spain for Real Madrid under his own watch. Then he brought you back to Chelsea with full of hopes. Your form is superb and you keep improving but yet, the best he could do for you is to keep you n the bench game in game out. Why? Only MMORE NOOOO! knows the answer. Go back to France and redeem yourself my brother.

    • Rasheed says:

Yes DOGO, if wine too is left in a closed bottle for decades, it tastes very good. That is just by the way. The Ashantes say, adipa na eto nihu. A good thing does need marketing. Clubs will look for you when you are still good. Essen is around 41 years, and I suggest he should finish his soccer in UAE, and forget about black stars.

  2. nigeria says:

U have to, becos mikel is 2 big 4 u to bench

    • Lincopper says:

I always feel sad for dis Nigerians who compare Essien and Mikel.. they all play at their best.. Essien has won a lot then Mikel and have contribute more then Mikel.. more goals than Mikel .. he can even play more position than Mikel. You says He is best.. why do he still get Benched???

  3. FABU THE BEST & GREATEST says:

Why this self-delusion, Nigeria? Why do u compare a 31year old with 20 year old? Both Essien & Mikel warm the bench now, anyway. But Essien has paid his dues, whilst Mikel is still a non-entity. He has scored only one goal since he joined Chelsea all these years. He is just incredibly pathetic.

  4. FABU THE BEST & GREATEST says:

Half fit Essien is better than fully fit Mikel in his best form.

  5. nana says:

Essien has already deformed my brothers….he need to go back to school
