Influential winger Michael Helegbe will quit Ghana Premier League title-holders Asante Kotoko in January, according to reports in the local media.

The former Liberty Professionals captain wants a new challenge and he has resolved to exit the Baba Yara Stadium when the second transfer window opens in January.

The news has put CAF Champions League campaigners Medeama SC on the alert as they seek to build a formidable side for their maiden continental campaign.

Officials in Tarkwa are convinced about Helegbe's potentials and believe he could bring his enormous experience to the fore in their campaign.

But Hearts of Oak who reportedly spoke to the player last year through Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV, look likely to rekindle their interest in the former Ghana U23 captain.

Helegbe has not openly spoken about his future with Kotoko and whether he will play a part in their African campaign but he widely expected to join Medeama together with defender Kofi Agyare.
