French Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne are not in contention to sign Chelsea star Michael Essien due to the midfielder’s wages.

The Ghana international is still on a  € 350,000 a month salary which is way above the 90,000 euros salary cap.

Essien is set to move from the English Premier League for more game time as the FIFA World Cup finals beckons next June in Brazil.

The box-to-box midfielder has made only six appearances for Chelsea under Jose Mourinho.

Essien used to be a regular for the Portuguese when he was first in-charge at the club.

Has anyone out there thought about this, that morinho is intentionally not using Essien due to the fact that GHANA is going to play Portugal at the World Cup ,I know he was not using him before the draw, but the few matches that the guy played shows he is still in top form ahead of Mikel and lampard, and was even using him when he was not all that in form at Real Madrid ,but now he want to even loan him out.

    • DOGO says:

I don’t think so however, I believe he has betrayed his only SON in football. I think Essien is still good and can fit perfectly in any team set up but for some reason, Morinho believe he does not fit in his plans for the current Chelsea team who are we to argue? The best Essien can do for himself is to find a new club and prove his worth.
