Michael Essien wants to help needy children in Ghana

Michael Essien says he will spend his time helping children and the needy in Ghana when he retires from football.

The Real Madrid star spends his annual holidays in Ghana developing his foundation for helping the needy in the country.

The Michael Essien Foundation, which the midfielder set up, has been building schools, water and toilet facilities in Ghana.

Now the shy midfielder has revealed that he wants to spend his time helping children when he quits the game.

“I will have time to work with the foundation, help the kids and needy in Ghana,” Essien said when asked what he would do when he retires.

He also spear-headed the biggest international football friendly in Ghana last year to promote peace in the country and Africa.
