Ghana midfielder Michael Essien will play no part in Chelseaââ¬â¢s Premier League clash at Arsenal on Monday night due to a ban.
The 31-year-old picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the midweekââ¬â¢s League Cup defeat at Sunderland which now earns him an automatic one-game ban.
Essien has only made three starts for the Blues this term in the English top flight.
The Ghana international who was used to being picked for almost every game for Chelsea has fallen down the perking order at Stamford Bridge.
Manager Jose Mourinho has preferred to play relative younger players in his midfield with age fast catching up on his loyal Ghanaian lieutenant.
