Michael Essien settling at Real Madrid

Michael Essien is settling into life at Real Madrid

Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien says he is enjoying his loan spell with Real Madrid and being reunited with Jose Mourinho.

The 29-year-old made the surprise move to the Spanish champions at the start of the season after helping Chelsea to win the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League last season and he says he’s adapting to La Liga.

“There are no easy games at this level whether in England or Spain,” he said through his official website.

“All the games I have played in or watched from the bench in Spain have been tough and I always knew it won’t be any easier.

“I hadn’t played for a while before coming to Madrid so I needed more games to get into my rhythm and I am getting there. As long as I keep training hard I will be fine.”

Apart from battling Barcelona in the domestic league, the Whites are also in search of their tenth Champions League title, and the Essien is hoping it will coincide with his stay.

“I hope to contribute to that for the success of Real Madrid football club,” he said.

“Apart from that achievement for the team and the city, it will be a special achievement for me to win two Champions League trophies.

“So I will work hard and if called upon will contribute to the record breaking tenth Champions League.”

transfer Frimpong is taking too long! we just have 3 months before the can 2013……i hope that by that time Quincy will be back too.. i ll say it again.. we need these guys in the selection:

Depay, Quincy, Atsu, Ayew, Frimpong, Asamoah, Waris!

    • Fred B. Kyeremeh says:

Waaaw,I will really be happy if Frimpong plays for Ghana, but talking about CAN 2013 is simply ridiculous.Has the Black Stars gotten to a level such as will make Frimpong an automatic choice for a tournament as the CAN?
I do not doubt his talent and prospects, but i think it is premature to call for his inclusion at this time.He isn’t the kind of player who has been tested and entrusted to walk straight into the tough African terrain. He must first justify his inclusion after he has recovered fully and gained match fitness. He must be playing regularly at his club before we can consider him for this team.Midfield talents abound in Ghana.Experience is key if we should make a good impact at the CAN.I think Frimpong isn’t there yet.He has a lot to prove to convince me of a place in our team, even if he gets the clearance now.

      • Mr.Boii says:

yeah i think you are right, even though i just tought he could be a benchwarmer just to have a secure bench for in case that…….

and let him play some friendlies before the CAN

but the most important thing is for him to be finally cleared!…taking tooooo long

      • Jaja says:

How many matches did Prince play before the World Cup? And still he was the star of the tournament. Frimpong would easily become our best defensive midfielder in CAN 2013. Or do you think ukranian dnipro player, or osasuna player can bench him? Don’t think so..

folish boy.make up ur mind about playing for blCKSTARS.

  3. kimco says:

absolutely rubbish coming from you Jaja. Just rubbish, typical of us Ghanaians.
