Meireles inspired at Euros by Chelsea glory

Chelsea midfielder Raul Meireles is using their Champions League triumph to inspire him at the Euros.

Meireles will start for Portugal tonight in the Euro2012 semifinals against Spain.

He told The Sun: “Last season I won two titles with Chelsea and one of them, the Champions League, nobody gave us any hope — particularly when we faced Barcelona.

“But we proved them wrong as we did against Bayern Munich in the final at their own stadium.

“Portugal could learn a lot from that, that you never go out on the pitch and stare defeat in the face no matter how much you are written off. Anyway I have already planned to have another tattoo if we win the title so I will be very disappointed if I can’t do it!”
