Meet John Antwi, the Egyptian Premier League top scorer
Ismaily Ghanaian striker John Antwi

Four goals in two games, Ismaily's striker John Antwi is off to a blistering start in the Egyptian Premier League that started last week.

The Ghanaian striker scored twice in Ismaily's league opener against Qanah 2-1 and hit another brace against Beni Suef Telephones on Sunday to fire his team to the top of the Group B.

The 21-year old player is grateful to his coach Ahmed El-Agouz for this impeccable start of the season.

"Coach Ahmed El-Agouz helped me to appear in this form thanks to his way of dealing with me and motivating me to score," Antwi told a television programme after the 3-1 win over Beni Suef Telephones on Sunday.

Antwi started his senior football career with Ghanaian side Eleven Wise Sekondi in 2011 before joining Ismaily in December 2012, signing a five year contract with the Dervish for $250,000.

He made an immediate impact with the Dervishes scoring 9 goals in as many official games he played with them.

The athletic striker played with Costal side in the CAF Confederation Cup, scoring 2 goals, another 2 in Egypt Cup alongside 5 goals in the Egyptian Premier League that was canceled after the 30 June protests.

Before joining Ismaily, Antwi had trials at Ahly and Beni Suef Telephones but they weren’t perceptive enough to lure him.

"I trained with Ahly and Beni Suef Telephones but they refused to sign me and then I joined Ismaily the team I admire. I hope Ismaily would compete on the Egyptian Premier league title this season." he added.

Ahly and Beni Suef are surely regretting what they missed.
