Medeama rule head coach out for AshGold job

Ghana Premier League side Medeama have debunked circling media reports that head coach Bashir Hayford has applied for the AshantiGold job.

Reports are rife that the former Ghana Under-17 coach is interested in taking over the coaching reigns at the Obuasi-based side.

AshantiGold Chief Executive Kudjoe Fianoo Hayford told an Accra-based radio station he was the only local coach to have applied for the job.

But Medeama say that is incorrect.

"Medeama SC wishes to refute media reports going round that our head coach Bashir Hayford has applied to join Ashanti Gold Football Club at the end of the season," a club statement read.

"Management would like to put it on record that coach Hayford signed a 3 years contract with Medeama SC of which the contract will end in August 2013.''

"Management would also like to inform the general public and our teaming supporters that our coach, Bashir Hayford is a happy person in Medeama SC and he has no intention of moving to another club till he sees through his contract.

"We have met Coach Bashir Hayford after reading reports in the media and we have no doubt with his commitment to the club.

"Management hopes that this press release will put to rest these rumours for our coach to concentrate on his job."

Medeama have had turbulent season and are currently tenth on the league table.
