Medeama produced a solid display to beat AshantiGold 1-0 in Obuasi to mark their return to winning ways.

Defender Otuo Acheampong headed home from Joseph Gordon's free kick in the second minute to give the visitors all three points.

The home side kept the pressure on the visitors but a resolute defensive display curtailed their effort-leaving coach Yaw Acheampong's future to hang in the balance.

Medeama had gone three matches without success and desperately needed to pick themselves following slips up at home to Kotoko and Amidaus and the 2-1 defeat at Liberty Professionals.

The players rose to the occasion and defied their managerial wrangling to snatch the points on the road.

The victory will be also be a massive relief for their trainer Bashir Hayford who had come under intense pressure from their teeming supporters.

The Tarkwa-based side are still second on the table with 17 points, one behind leaders Aduana Stars.
