Medeama burned and crashed on the cusp of qualification to the Group stage of the Confederation Cup after losing 5-4 on penalties against AC Leopards at home.

The Mauves and Yellows missed a first half penalty when Michael Helegbe missed from 12 yards.

But Medeama never gave up and continued to pile on the pressure in the second half with a goal from the spot-this time expertly converted by goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe.

Just before the end of the whistle, Hans Kwoffie scored the needed goal with thunderous strike which offset the 2-0 deficit from the first leg.

It was powerful shot which beat the AC Leopards goalkeeper who had been brilliant on the day.

But the debutants could not snatch the match winner in regulation time as they huffed and puffed.

The match headed to penalty shootouts and after the first five kicks, both sides missed one each and were tied at four apiece.

During sudden death, the visitors goalkeeper converted and defender Henry Entsir had his saved.

Although Medeama won for the fourth time at the Essipong Stadium in the competition, they could not celebrate.
