Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy admits to the difficulty in regaining his starting place due to the impressive performance of Tetteh Lugard.
Lugard has been the preferred first choice under David Duncan.
The 23-year-old has fared very well in the absence of McCarthy who was out with an injury.
The Ghana international is now finding it difficult to reclaim his no.1 spot despite returning to full action due to the consistent displays of Lugard.
“You saw me today on the bench it means I am ready for action, I am fit, I am well and I am OK,” McCarthy said.
“Just that Lugard is on fire and our coach has made us understand that if you are on fire, you play.
“It is nothing like politics or favouritism, if you are on fire you play.”
