Mayor of Mbombela Catherine Dhlamini visited the Black Stars ahead of the crucial semi-final match against Burkina Faso on Wednesday.

The Mayor offered words of encouragement to the Ghana team after the evening training session on Tuesday at the Iguemanya Sport Resort – where the team has been based since arriving from Port Elizabeth on Monday.

Hon. Dhlamini wished the team good luck even beyound the semi-final match and requested the Black Stars return to Mbombela with the Nations Cup trophy after achieving success in the grand finale before heading back home.

“When you win on Sunday (grand finale), before you go to Ghana, you come here and present the trophy before you go to Ghana,” she told the players after the final training session.

She also adviced the players who are playing outside Africa to return with their foreign earned income to develop the continent.

“Whatever little money that you get there, please come back to Africa and invest,” she added.

“I am not talking about big investment. The house that you build at homes means development in Africa.

“So we are looking upon you, you are our future leaders. Please do remember that Africa needs development and we are depending on you.”

The Mayor later on presented gifts to each member of the Ghana team – a gesture which was well received and appreciated by the Ghana contingent.
