Ghana’s home-based national team coach Maxwell Konadu says could be senior national team call-up for any of players who impresses at the upcoming Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament.

Konadu, who doubles as assistant coach of the Black Stars, say his boss Kwesi Appiah will be keenly following the tournament as part of monitoring plan for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

The ex-international striker is currently with the team Windhoek, Namibia preparing for the third edition of the tournament which is restricted to players of domestic leagues.

Konadu says there is a distinct chance that a player who impresses in the CHAN will gatecrash Ghana’s final World Cup squad.

''A star may emerge during the tournament in South Africa and since the head coach [James Kwesi Appiah] will also be there, they may get called for the world cup,'' Konadu said.

''You never know when it comes to football,'' he added.

Konadu will lead the local Black Stars in a friendly against Namibia’s Brave Warriors in a pre-tournament friendly on Saturday.

Ghana will play Congo in their Group C opener before engaging Libya and Ethiopia.

The 2014 African Nations Championship will run from 11 January to 01 February.
