Local Black Stars coach Maxwell Konadu insists defeating Nigeria at the CHAN does little to Stephen Keshi’s reputation as Africa’s best coach.

Ghana defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria 4-1 on penalties, in the semi-finals of the African Nations Championship on Wednesday, to progress into the finals of the competition.

Konadu said that the loss has done nothing to taint Keshi’s reputation.

“We know how African football is and I had said that he (Keshi) is the kind of man we need in African football. We all follow his steps and we are all learning from him as well.

“This is just but one match, I do not think, the outcome has changed his status.”

Keshi was named the continent’s best coach, at the Glo/CAF Awards this month.

Wow i’m really moved. How many coaches will do tht after beaten the continent best coach?.The media were trying to cook words into his mouth but thk God for giving coach MAX the wisdom to answer them wisely. These are the kind of ppl we need in the country. Wht I have noticed is tht, if u’re confident ppl see u to be arrogance.

The heading of this article does not do justice to what Max Konadu actually said. He made no reference whatsoever to Keshi being Africa’s best. Knowing Max, he is so prudent he will not say something like this which could be misinterpreted as undermining his ‘boss’, Kwesi Appiah. Max only said the result of the match does not dent Keshi’s status. The rest is the writer’s conclusions from the fact that Keshi won the CAF award!
