Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is confident they can defeat Niger on Monday

Ghanasoccernet.com examines what Black Stars and their Group B opponents must do to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.

Ghana will advance if:

*they do not lose to Niger, OR

*they lose by 1 goal AND Mali draw with Congo DR.

Mali will advance if:

*they defeat Congo DR, OR

*they draw with Congo DR AND

*Niger do not defeat Ghana, OR

*Niger defeat Ghana by at least 2 goals, OR

*Niger defeat Ghana by a score of 1-0 AND Mali score at least 1 goal, OR

*Mali score no goals AND Mali have a better booking record than Niger, OR

*Mali and Niger have an equal booking record AND Mali win by drawing of lots.

Congo DR will advance if:

*they defeat Mali.

Niger will advance if:

*they defeat Ghana AND Mali do not draw with Congo DR, OR

*Niger score at least 2 goals, OR

*Niger score exactly 1 goal AND Mali draw with Congo DR by a score of 0-0 AND Niger have a better booking record than Mali, OR

*Niger and Mali have an equal booking record AND Niger win by drawing of lots.

WE CAN BEAT NIGER EASILY. THEY ONLY HAVE 3 DECENT PLAYERS. THEIR ATTACK N MIDFIELD ARE NON CONSISTENT. THEIR DEFENCE HAS LOOPHOLES.

  If their is a winner in the other match, no matter who that might be, Ghana won’t progress to the next stage, if they lose to Niger. In that case, both these teams(Ghana and Niger) will tie in the second place. The first criteria as to which team qualifies, is what hapened in their match. Given the fact that Niger would have won that match, they will go through as second and Ghana will be eliminated as third.

GSN is correct,if we are to lose,it shouldn’t be 2 or more else we are out when mali or congo wins

If Ghana fails to beat Niger convincingly then, we are not good enough for the trophy. If we cannot beat Niger, how then can we beat the likes of CIV etc?
