Match report: Kotoko halt losing streak with draw at Berekum Chelsea
Asante Kotoko held Berekum Chelsea on Sunday

Asante Kotoko held Berekum Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in the First Capital Plus Premier League match played at the Golden City Park on Sunday.

The champions who were coming off a run of disappointing back-to-back losses desperately needed to get something out of this game to strengthen their lead at the top of the Ghanaian top flight.

Kotoko however after a strong start against the Blues in Berekum suffered the goal setback just on the stroke of haltime.

The game went into a third injury time at the end of the regulated 45 minutes and the hosts took full advantage to get into the lead through Attakora Gyimah.

It was the best halftime sending off for the fans at the Golden City Park as the first half came to an end just after Kotoko resumed play.

Winger Richard Mpong drew Kotoko level just four minutes into the restart.

The game ended in the draw after both sides failed to convert the chances they created throughout the second half.

The champions have now managed to extend their lead at the top of the Ghanaian top flight by nine points after closest rivals Hearts of Oak suffered a 3-1 loss at Liberty Professionals.
