Heart of Lions have snatched a ticket for next season's CAF Champions League despite suffering a 3-1 loss at AshantiGold on the final day of the Ghana Premier League.

The Miners went into the last game of the season with continental action on their minds and got the right tone when Awudu Nafui opened the scoring in the 34th minute.

But striker Isaac Quansah levelled for Lions five minutes before the break but Bashir Hayford's men came back strongly from the recess to nail the game.

Youngster Shafiu Mumuni sent a powerful half-volley, ripping with a such a fierce blast in the 50th minute before Emmanuel Osei topped the scoring up in the 57th minute to register his 7th goal of the campaign.

Lions, who had lost to King Faisal on Sunday at their favourite Kpando Park had their fate in their own hands with the game at the Len Clay Stadium but the results ended their has limited them to participation in the CAF Confederations Cup.

AshGold had enjoyed mid-season blues but their impressive showing in the last games of the season put them in pole position to finish in a top-four play but ultimately missed out on a continental slot as the last slot goes to the MTN FA Cup finalist.
